Carrying the Mail
Larry Tobin in his red 1927 Stearman C3B, foreground, and Addison Pemberton in his 1928 Boeing 40 crisscrossed the United States in August and September 2008 to discover what pioneer air mail pilots might have experienced. The men’s airplanes were the oldest Stearman and the oldest Boeing flying at the time. They were accompanied by Ben Scott, Reno, NV, in his 1930 Stearman 4E.
