National Stearman Fly-In – Day 7

Ready to fly the mail, from left, are George Perks, Larry Tobin, Al Holloway, Ben Scott and Addison Pemberton, standing in front of Pemberton’s 1928 Boeing 40C on the ramp at Galesburg, IL, Municipal Airport on the last day of the 37th National Stearman Fly-In (Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008). They plan to re-create an early transcontinental mail flight from New York to California to mark the 90th anniversary of U.S. Air Mail service. Tobin and Scott will fly early-model Stearmans on the 6-day trip. Scott and Holloway are from Reno, NV; the others are from Spokane, WA.
