National Stearman Fly-In – Day 4
Some are blue. Some are gray. Others are yellow. But canvas covers all serve the same purpose -- to protect Stearman engines and cockpits from rain. The remnants of Hurricane Gustav dumped more than 21/2 inches of rain on Galesburg, IL, Municipal Airport on Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 3 and 4, 2006). The 36-hour-long downpour resulted in cancellation of all of Thursday’s flying events scheduled during the 37th National Stearman Fly-In.
