Something To Be Proud About

Mike Porter’s silver Army Air Corps PT-17 was built May 11, 1942. He rattles off the date like a proud father recounting the birth of a first child. The plane was stationed at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, TX, where it was used to teach volunteers for the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots to fly.
