National Stearman Fly-In – Day 4
C.H. “Woody” Woodhull says his N2S-5 Stearman was delivered to Naval Air Station Ottumwa, IA, in 1943. NAS Ottumwa’s fleet of several hundred Stearmans was used to teach would-be Navy aviators how to fly. Woodhull, of Miami Lakes, FL, flew a total of 1,630 miles from his home airport, with stops in Blakesburg and Ottumwa, IA, before arriving Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Galesburg, IL, Municipal Airport for the 38th National Stearman Fly-In.
