National Stearman Fly-In – Day 1

Barnstormer Sarah Wilson’s first passenger Monday, Sept. 7, at Galesburg Municipal Airport was Tom Siegel, Monmouth, who opted for a 30-minute adventure in the Stearman. Siegel said he’d wanted to try his hand at the controls of a Stearman for years, and when he read a newspaper story about Wilson and her plane he thought “I’m all over this!” Above, Wilson explains the proper way to get into her plane’s front cockpit.
