The Bump Never Came
Michelle Anstett, a reporter for The Galesburg Register-Mail, experienced a range of emotions, most of the white-knuckle variety, during her first ride in a Stearman on Tuesday (Sept. 2, 2008) over the City of Galesburg, IL. She says she was waiting for the bump when the plane landed, but it never came. Pilot Phillip Wolford “greased” the landing on the grass runway at Galesburg Municipal Airport during the 37th National Stearman Fly-In.
