GALESBURG, IL. – Here are the award winners from the 40th National Stearman Fly In held Sept. 5-10, 2011 at the Galesburg Municipal Airport:
Early Bird:
(first pilot-in-command to arrive at Galesburg Municipal Airport for the 2011 Fly In who remained for the duration): Nick and Judy Sager, Granbury, TX, arrived August 16, 2011 in Stearman N64602.
Longest Cross-Country:
(awarded to the pilot whose direct route from his or her home airport to Galesburg was the longest in a Stearman): Bill Fisher flew 1,729 miles from Salem, Oregon in Stearman N58986.
Youngest Pilot:
(awarded to the youngest pilot who, acting as pilot-in-command, landed a Stearman upon its arrival for the 2011 Fly In): Daniel Wolford, 27 years old, Burlington, IA, Stearman N54896.
Most Vintage Pilot:
(awarded to the oldest person who, acting as pilot-in-command, landed a Stearman upon its arrival for the 2011 Fly In): Bob Siegfried, 82 years old, Downers Grove, IL, Stearman N3977A.
